The short version
Norwood Report is built and written by Taro Schenker, founder of Known by One, LLC, which also runs a small family of measurement-first tools (face shape, colour analysis) on the same principle: compute the answer in the visitor's own browser, show the reasoning, sell nothing that needs the answer bent.
The staging tool runs on open computer-vision models (MediaPipe face landmarks and hair segmentation), self-hosted, entirely on your device. The site has no accounts, no analytics scripts and no photo uploads — the methodology page documents exactly what gets measured and where the tool refuses to guess.
The honesty rules
- Advice is conditioned on stage, including the unprofitable parts: stage 1 is told to do nothing, and stages 6–7 are told that regrowth products have nothing for them.
- The tool refuses rather than guesses — no face, a turned head, a hat, an unreadable hairline all produce a refusal or a question, never a silent wrong verdict.
- If links to treatment services ever carry an affiliate commission, the pages carrying them will say so plainly, and the stage logic stays identical either way. Published figures (like transplant costs) carry the date they were last reviewed.
